Punter Jack Richardson decommits from Mississippi State football’s 2025 class

Jack Richardson, a 2025 punter, announced his decommitment from Mississippi State on social media Tuesday afternoon.

“I would like to start off by thanking my family and coaches for the support and prayers. I would also like to thank the MSU coaching staff for the opportunity to play at Mississippi State and wish nothing but the best for the program. However, I have decided to decommit from the program and re-open my recruitment,” Richardson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Richardson, a three-star recruit per 247Sports from Madison Central High School, had been committed to Mississippi State since March. He also holds an offer from Air Force.

With Richardson’s departure, Mississippi State now has 11 players committed for 2025. This number was at four before the past weekend’s flurry of announcements following official visits from three-stars Stephen Miller (athlete), Derrion Horsley (cornerback), Sekou Smith Jr. (safety), Christopher Johnson (defensive line), Josiah Clemons (offensive line), and Lo’Kavion Jackson (safety). The Bulldogs also received commitments from junior college prospects linebacker LaKendrick James (Copiah-Lin Community College) and defensive lineman Kevonte Henry (Cerritos College).

Additionally, Mississippi State has commitments from four-star quarterback KaMario Taylor, defensive edge Tyshun Willis, and three-star linebacker AJ Rice.
