OKLAHOMA CITY — Throughout the 2024 season, anyone near Oklahoma’s dugout couldn’t help but notice the constant noise. The unrelenting cheers created a steady hum that fueled Patty Gasso’s unstoppable team.
At the heart of the commotion was a familiar face.
OU fans loudly chanted Rylie Boone’s last name whenever she took the field, and she reciprocated that energy through her teammates in the dugout.
“Boone and (Jayda) Coleman… those two make this program go,
What a great speech, ” Gasso said after Oklahoma clinched its fourth consecutive national title last Thursday. “They are full of energy, and that energizes everyone.
When they aren’t energized, we aren’t energized. They took it upon themselves, with some guidance, to understand that this could be a very special situation if they could make it happen.”
