Draymond Green Fires Warning Shot at Klay Thompson Ahead of Warriors-Mavs Match-Up

Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors made a statement with a 118-112 victory over the defending champion Boston Celtics on Wednesday. However, their focus quickly shifts to a high-stakes match-up against former teammate Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks later this week. With the Warriors improving to 7-1, they are now tied for the top spot in the Western Conference alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder and Phoenix Suns.

Ahead of the game, Green sent a pointed message to Thompson during an appearance on *The Draymond Green Show* with Baron Davis, referencing a story involving Mavs star Kyrie Irving.

Green recalled an interaction where Thompson had approached him while he was speaking with Irving, asking, “Ky, are you talking to the Ops?” In response, Green made it clear that the remark had some serious intent behind it.

“Now, I’m going to run through his chest when we play him,” Green said. “I wasn’t going to, but now I am. That’s where that whole thing came from. Obviously, we all love Klay, but to love Klay is to know he’s coming for us. He’s going to try and murder us.”

With the Warriors riding a five-game win streak, including their impressive road win over the Celtics, they will look to continue their momentum against the Mavericks, who sit at 5-3 and are led by Thompson, who is averaging 14.5 points on 44.8% shooting, including 39.1% from beyond the arc.

Green also gave his teammate Moses Moody a heads-up on what to expect from Thompson when the two teams face off in the group stage of the NBA Cup next Tuesday.

“I haven’t seen Klay post up with Dallas at all,” Green noted. “But he’s going to try to run you into the post. He’s going to be on all of that.”

The stage is set for an intense showdown as the Warriors aim to maintain their strong start, while Thompson and the Mavericks look to prove themselves as contenders in the West While Warriors’ Draymond Green still holds deep affection for his teammate, with whom he has won four NBA titles, he’s bracing for Thompson’s absolute best when they face off.
