Italian journalist calls Napoli coach the “best in Italy” and claims he’s “much better” than the Inter Milan coach linked to Manchester United.
Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni believes Antonio Conte is currently the best coach in Serie A, surpassing Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi. Speaking on RAI Radio 24 via FCInter1908, Zazzaroni made this bold statement in favor of the Napoli coach.
Conte and Inzaghi have often been compared, especially as Inzaghi took over at Inter following Conte’s departure. Early on, it was challenging for Inzaghi to escape Conte’s shadow, particularly since both coaches favor a 3-5-2 formation. Although Inzaghi led Inter to significant successes in his first seasons, some critics felt his teams lacked the same winning edge they had under Conte.
Inter’s journey to the Champions League final helped shift opinions, however, as this was an achievement that had eluded Conte. Last season, Inzaghi claimed the Serie A title, doing so in even more emphatic style than Conte’s 2020-21 victory.
This achievement led many to argue that Inzaghi had left a lasting legacy at Inter. However, Zazzaroni insists Conte remains superior. Conte has had a longer and more decorated career, with league titles at Juventus and Chelsea, as well as a strong showing with Italy at EURO 2016. Now leading Napoli, who sit four points above Inter at the top of Serie A, Conte is reclaiming his status in Italian football.
For Zazzaroni, the verdict is clear: “Conte is the best coach in Italy right now,” he stated. “Even more than Inzaghi. He’s a great coach, and I’m a big fan, but Conte is better.”
