Warriors’ Curry leaves game against Clippers due to a sprained left ankle.

**SAN FRANCISCO** — Warriors guard Stephen Curry was set to have an MRI on Sunday evening for a left ankle sprain that caused him to leave Golden State’s 112-104 loss to the LA Clippers early in the fourth quarter.

Coach Steve Kerr mentioned that Curry described the injury as “mild or moderate” after the game. However, there is concern since he has had multiple sprains to that ankle in the past.

Sources told ESPN that the team is preparing for Curry to miss some time, potentially several games.

“I feel more comfortable that we can handle an absence offensively without Steph because of our depth,” Kerr said.

Curry twisted his ankle with just under three minutes left in the third quarter and immediately left the game, limping to the sideline where he received treatment from athletic trainer Drew Yoder. He rocked back and forth in his chair for a few minutes before stretching his ankle with a resistance band.

He tried to re-enter the game four minutes into the fourth quarter, but aggravated the injury while fighting through a screen. This time, he left the court with a more pronounced limp, assisted by Gary Payton II.

“[I just] shake my head,” patyon said. “It’s tough, especially with him. But we’ll be alright … Hopefully he won’t miss too many games, but we need to adapt.”

Curry ended the night with 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including four 3-pointers, along with six assists.

“We’ve just got to stick together,” Buddy Hield said about the potential of playing without Curry. “It’ll be a great challenge.”

If Curry is sidelined, the Warriors will look for someone to step up in scoring. Hield, as the sixth man, is averaging 19 points in 20.8 minutes while shooting 53% from beyond the arc.

Kerr also identified Andrew Wiggins as a potential key scorer, encouraging him since training camp to take on a larger offensive role.

Against the Clippers, Wiggins scored 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three.

“Wiggs is off to a great start and had a great night,” Kerr said. “He’s a clear candidate for more touches. But we have a deep team with plenty of talent. We’ll be ready.”
