“Jackass” star Steve-O explains why he chose to support the “good-looking” Joe Burrow and the Bengals in 2024.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow seems to have gained a new fan during the offseason. Comedian and actor Steve-O, currently on his “Super Dummy Tour,” is set to perform in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his stand-up show soon.
In a recent interview with David Wysong of the Cincinnati Inquirer, the “Jackass” star revealed that he is now a Bengals fan. Steve-O explained that he chooses a different NFL team to support each year, and this season, he picked the Bengals.
“I usually choose a new NFL team to root for every season, and this year I went with the Cincinnati Bengals,” Steve-O said.
Steve-O mentioned that he met Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and defensive end Sam Hubbard at UFC 299 in Miami, Florida, in March 2024. During their conversation, he admitted that he didn’t have a dedicated football team and promised both Burrow and Hubbard that he would support the Cincinnati Bengals for the 2024 NFL season.
“We were just hanging out, having a good time,” Steve-O said. “They asked, ‘Who’s your team?’ and I explained that I usually pick a different one each year. They responded, ‘What’s up?’ and I promised them, saying, ‘Alright, I’m officially rooting for the Bengals this season.'”
“It’s meaningful for me to be honoring my word in that respect,” he recalled after his conversation with Joe Burrow and Sam Hubbard
Steve-O then went on to joke that he views Joe Burrow as a ‘good-looking’ guy.
“He’s a good-looking guy. I don’t know what it is with quarterbacks and them kind of tending to be attractive.
Steve-O suggested that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s attractiveness might boost his confidence, which in turn could contribute to his success. “I think there’s some correlation between being attractive, confidence, and excellence,” he remarked.
Steve-O will need to continue showing support for his new team, as the Cincinnati Bengals are currently 3-4 after seven weeks, following a slow start to the season.
Joe Burrow emphasized the importance of each game moving forward, especially since the Bengals have yet to secure a win at Paycor Stadium this season, holding a 0-3 home record. As they aim to reach a .500 record, a home victory has become crucial.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Burrow acknowledged the ongoing discussions around their struggles at home. “We’re going to talk about this every week now, because of how we started, but every game is critical at this point. We need to get another win,” he said, ahead of their Week 8 game.
The Bengals will face a major challenge as they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, a game that could be pivotal in turning around their home record.
