T.J. Watt of the Steelers becomes the second-fastest player to reach 100 sacks after bringing down Dak Prescott.

T.J. Watt has been wreaking havoc on quarterbacks since 2017, and he reached another milestone in his dominant career.

The Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker hit the 100-sack mark during Sunday night’s loss, taking down Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Watt, along with Nick Herbig, combined for a sack in the second quarter, pushing him exactly to 100 career sacks.

During the play, Watt lost his helmet and forced Prescott to fumble, with Herbig recovering the ball. However, Watt’s personal achievement was overshadowed by the defeat.

“As I’ve said all along, especially this year, it’s not about individual accolades. It’s all about winning,” Watt said. “Tonight, we didn’t do enough to get that done.”

In his 109th career game, Watt became the second-fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 sacks, surpassing Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware, who did it in 113 games. The only player to reach the milestone faster was Reggie White, who accomplished it in 96 games.

Watt, a six-time Pro Bowler and the 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, ended the game with 1.5 sacks, bringing his career total to 101. At 29 years old, Watt is on a clear Hall of Fame path and is in the midst of one of his best seasons, having recorded at least one sack in every game this year. Dating back to last season’s finale, he’s now registered sacks in five consecutive games.

Adding to his historical achievement, Watt and his retired brother, J.J. Watt, are now the only siblings in NFL history with 100 sacks each. T.J. is also closing in on J.J.’s career total of 114.5 sacks, which ranks 24th all-time.

A three-time single-season sack leader, T.J. Watt’s 22.5 sacks in 2021 tied the NFL’s single-season record. With this latest milestone behind him, more records are likely to fall in the future.
