Razorbacks Potentially Pursuing Another 2024 Guard

Calipari might not have finished adding to his new team just yet.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Jeremiah Fears, a shooting guard, remains the lone uncommitted prospect in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound combo guard made the decision to reclassify from 2025 to join college basketball a year ahead of schedule.

Fears previously committed to Illinois but withdrew his commitment two weeks ago. He is currently ranked as the No. 34 prospect in his class, the No. 5 point guard, and the No. 2 player in Arizona.

The Razorbacks have emerged as one of several schools reaching out to Fears in recent weeks. He is currently competing at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, where numerous top coaches and assistants are scouting talent.

During a game on Saturday evening, Fears contributed 21 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the Oakland Soldiers. UConn, Arkansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan, and USC have all expressed interest in recruiting him for the upcoming college season.

Fears released a statement on his X account after decommitting from Illinois.

“First and foremost, I want to thank the Illini nation for their incredible love and support throughout my recruitment and commitment process. I am deeply grateful to Coach Underwood and his staff for their open communication and belief in me as a prospective guard who could contribute to the program’s success at the State Farm Center.

“Please understand that my initial intention was to join Champaign as part of the 2025 class and contribute to the ongoing progress in the BIG10. However, after careful consideration and meaningful discussions with my family, I have decided to reopen my recruitment and explore other opportunities.”

During his junior season at Arizona Compass, Fears averaged 14 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists per game. His team, the Dragons, ended the season with a 20-7 overall record, ranking third among Arizona prep schools.

Arkansas recently announced the addition of four new players for the 2024-25 season: shooting guards Melo Sanchez, Jaden Karuletwa, Casmir Chavis, and Ayden Kelley. While Fears has considered reclassifying in the past, sources from allHOGS indicate that remaining in the 2025 class is still an option for him.
