Anthony Davis Lauds Kyrie Irving’s Outlook Amid ACL Tear.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis has expressed admiration for teammate Kyrie Irving’s resilience and positive mindset following Irving’s season-ending ACL injury. Davis, who recently returned to the lineup after his own injury, reflected on Irving’s situation after the Mavericks’ 120-101 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
“It was devastating,” Davis said. “Kyrie is a phenomenal basketball player but, even more, a phenomenal human. Anytime anyone goes down to an injury like that, it always sucks.”
Davis noted that he initially gave Irving space to process the injury but has since observed a shift in his teammate’s outlook. “He came back to the locker room, got everything out of his system, and was excited about the rehab process,” Davis explained. “He’s in a good head space.”
Irving’s presence on the bench during games has been uplifting for the team. “He’s been around the team,” Davis said. “To see him in a great head space is good for our team, good for me, and I’m pretty sure good for him.”
Davis emphasized the team’s commitment to supporting Irving during his recovery. “Obviously, it sucks, but we’ve got to hold the fort down for this season and then until next season until he’s ready to come back.”
Irving’s injury occurred in early March, cutting short a season where he was averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Despite the setback, his proactive approach to rehabilitation and continued involvement with the team reflect his determination to return stronger.
Davis’s return to the court has provided a boost to the Mavericks, who are striving to maintain competitiveness in the Western Conference during Irving’s absence. The team’s resilience and unity will be crucial as they navigate the remainder of the season without one of their key players.
