According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Los Angeles Lakers have traded guard Shake Milton and forward Dorian Finney-Smith to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for point guard D’Angelo Russell.
For a Lakers lineup that needs wing defence and shooting, Finney-Smith is a better match. The nine-year veteran is shooting a career-high 44% (47-for-108) from three-point range and averaging 10.4 points, which is the second-best average of his career, along with 4.6 rebounds. He can defend all three spots on the court because he is 6′ 7″.
Russell was playing poorly during his second stay with the Lakers, averaging a career-low 12.4 points and 4.7 assists on 33% 3-point shooting. He replaces Dennis Schröder, who was dealt to the Golden Knights, and returns to Brooklyn, where he was named an All-Star in 2018–19.
