Liverpool are being linked with a shock move for Nottingham Forest starlet Elliot Anderson. Forest only signed the 22-year-old from Newcastle in the summer, but he is fast becoming one of the signings of the season as the Reds have taken the Premier League by storm.
They sit third in the table and remain the only team to beat leaders Liverpool so far this season, prompting boss Nuno Espirito Santo to admit his priority during the transfer window is to keep his high-flying squad intact.
However, that has not deterred Liverpool, it seems. According to the Sun, Arne Slot’s rampant Reds are keen on Forest’s £35m recruit, although it is unclear whether they will table a bid this month or wait for the summer to press home their suit.
The Sun reports: “The league leaders have watched the midfielder’s last six games and the Nottingham Forest ace has been earning rave reviews from their scouts.”
Forest are under no pressure to sell the 22-year-old, who arrived at the City Ground in a deal related to Newcastle’s need to sell a homegrown player to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. It was a decision that baffled and infuriated Magpies fans – but has paid off in style for Forest.
