Simo Valakari was full of praise post-match this afternoon for Celtic after the Hoops hammered the Saints 4-0 at Celtic Park.
The St Johnstone boss reflected on the defeat humbly, unlike some other managers in the league who would take the result as a negative and look to blame others, like referees.
Valakari said: (The Herald), “It’s 89 minutes, it’s 4-0 and they don’t let us breathe. They just come and come and come.
“So if we can learn from the best, it’s very good for our process. So no disappointment or anything, all players gave something.”
“The Finnish coach clearly sees Celtic as the benchmark in Scotland, rightfully so, with the Hoops completing a year unbeaten at home across all competitions with this afternoon’s victory.”
The Hoops also now hold all three domestic trophies in Scotland, and with Brendan Rodgers’ side on the verge of the Champions League knockout playoffs, they are playing at a level not seen at Celtic for a number of years.
For the Saints, they now sit bottom of the table, with Valakari facing a tough task to keep the Perth side in the Premiership.
However, their season won’t be defined by a convincing defeat at Celtic Park.
