Kings and Stars Celebrate LeBron James After Lakers Victory

Superstar forward LeBron James guided the Los Angeles Lakers to a victory against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

The Sacramento Kings struggled in their second game of the 2024-25 season, losing 131-127 on the road to the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the Kings have been competitive in both losses, starting the year at 0-2 is far from ideal.

Saturday night’s game in Los Angeles was highlighted by an outstanding performance from superstar LeBron James, who recorded 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, leading a fourth-quarter surge that secured the win for the Lakers.

After the Kings’ loss in L.A., Sacramento’s stars were quick to praise LeBron James for his impressive triple-double and 16-point performance in the fourth quarter. Domantas Sabonis kicked things off by acknowledging James’ greatness (via Sacramento Kings | YouTube):

“LeBron was just being LeBron, you know? He really took over and did his thing, while we were careless with the ball. It was incredible; he didn’t look tired at all. We needed to do a better job of making it tougher for him.”

Kings’ De’Aaron Fox shared a similar sentiment about LeBron’s performance:

“Players LeBron’s age are usually playing at recreational leagues. What he’s accomplished in this league throughout his career is incredible, and what he’s doing now in his 22nd year is something that likely won’t be seen again.”

The remarkable aspect of James’ dominance is that many current players grew up watching him and admiring his game, so witnessing a classic LeBron takeover on the court is truly captivating.

Although the Kings fell short in Saturday’s divisional matchup, they had control of the game until they surrendered a 21-0 run to start the fourth quarter. Without James’ stellar performance in that period, the Kings could have left L.A. with a victory. The accolades from Sabonis and Fox are definitely warranted.
