Lakers star Austin Reaves made a funny remark about the Dodgers’ Game 1 victory…

Describing Friday as a significant night in Los Angeles would be an understatement. Alongside thrilling local high school football matchups and USC football’s impressive win over Rutgers at the Coliseum, the Los Angeles Lakers staged a comeback against the Phoenix Suns at Crypto.com Arena. Most importantly, the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a dramatic Game 1 victory over the New York Yankees in the World Series at Dodger Stadium.

With so much happening in the ‘City of Angels,’ it’s no surprise that fans at the different sporting events might not be fully focused on the game they were attending. Given the varying stakes involved, it’s understandable that many would be more invested in the Dodgers’ outcome than in other games.

During the Lakers game, Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning, leading the Dodgers to a 6-3 victory in Game 1. Fans at the Lakers game reacted to the moment, which Austin Reaves humorously acknowledged after the Lakers’ win.

“I thought they were cheering for me,” Reaves said with a grin during the post-game press conference. “I didn’t know what was happening until I saw him hit that homer on the screen. It looks like it’s going to be a great Series!”

While the fans were likely cheering for the Dodgers at that moment, they still showed strong support for Reaves and the Lakers. Despite facing an early deficit of over 20 points, the Lakers rallied to outscore the Suns by 23 points in the final three quarters, ultimately winning 123-116. This victory marks their first 2-0 start since 2010.
