Rafael Nadal reveals favorite, ‘most proud of’ moments of career

Nadal will compete in the final match of his professional tennis career at the 2024 Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.

Rafael Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam champion, reflected on his proudest career moments as he approaches retirement in November 2024.

As reported by Tennis365, Nadal, who holds a record 14 Roland Garros titles and 92 ATP titles, looked back on the highlights of his career. In an interview with AS, the 38-year-old shared some of the key moments that held great significance for him, including the 2006 Roland Garros victory. “It was the first year after my foot injury. Honestly, we didn’t think I would be able to play competitively again,” Nadal recalled.

He continued, “When you’ve spent your whole life preparing and, in your first good year, you’re told you may never play again, it’s tough.”

Nadal also highlighted his 2008 Wimbledon win, that year’s Olympics, and the entire 2013 season as pivotal moments. He noted that overcoming knee pain in 2012 and his 2022 Australian Open victory were among the most emotional experiences of his career.

What Nadal is “most proud of,” however, is finishing his career with the “satisfaction of feeling valued and loved” by the tennis community.

Nadal, who announced his retirement in an emotional video that became the most-liked tennis-related video, will play his final match at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga in November 2024.
