Alabama football loses its starting cornerback due to an injury in the game against South Carolina.

Alabama football lost a key defender to injury during the first half against South Carolina. Domani Jackson exited the game in the second quarter following a tackle that forced a third down.

The starting cornerback had to be assisted off the field by the medical staff and, after spending time in the tent, was taken to the locker room on a golf cart about 10 minutes before halftime.

Freshman Jaylen Mbakwe stepped in for Jackson on the third down.

Jackson, the most experienced player in a young cornerback group, transferred to Alabama before the 2024 season after two years at USC.

With Mbakwe now starting, Alabama has two freshmen cornerbacks in the lineup. The team also has DaShawn Jones, a transfer from Wake Forest with some experience, and Zay Mincey, another freshman option.
