Insider reports Braves eyeing $188 milli slugger target.

The Atlanta Braves are set to be a fascinating team to follow this winter as free agency approaches

A lot of attention has been focused on whether Max Fried will return to the team. Fried, one of the most sought-after pitchers this offseason, is hitting free agency and has sparked much speculation.

But Fried isn’t the only player to watch. Since the departure of Dansby Swanson, Atlanta has faced uncertainty at shortstop. This offseason, they could look to address that need. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Braves have their eyes on Milwaukee Brewers slugger Willy Adames.

“Willy Adames, spiritual leader of the Brew Crew, has been a target of the Dodgers, Braves, and Giants in the past, and they’re seen as potential landing spots,” Heyman noted. “The Brewers would love to keep him but acknowledge he may be out of their price range. LA, with its Friedman/Rays connection, could be the favorite.”

Adames, who just turned 29, had a stellar 2024 season, making him one of the top offensive shortstops in the league. He played in 161 games, hitting 32 home runs, driving in 112 runs, and stealing 21 bases.

With a projected market value of $188 million over seven years, Adames won’t come cheap. While it’s uncertain if the Braves will land him, when an insider like Heyman reports on a target, it’s worth paying attention.
