“Bruins Coach Delivers Strong Message to Fabian Lysell”

Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery made it clear that Fabian Lysell needs to pick up his play.
Boston Bruins’ top prospect Fabian Lysell had an underwhelming performance in his first pre-season game on Sunday, September 22, against the New York Rangers. The 2021 first-round pick did not register a single shot and committed two turnovers. As Lysell aims to secure a spot on the Bruins’ opening night roster, this wasn’t the ideal start he was hoping for.

Now, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery sent Lysell a big message while speaking to reporters, including WEEI’s Scott McLaughlin, earlier today (Sept. 24):

“He needs to do a little more than he’s done if he wants to make the Bruins.”

Given Lysell’s subdued performance in his first pre-season game, it’s no surprise that Montgomery expects more from the 2021 first-round pick. With roster spots up for grabs in the Bruins’ forward group, Lysell will need to make a bigger impression if he wants a shot at the NHL.

Lysell is back in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Washington Capitals, and it will be intriguing to see how he responds to Montgomery’s expectations through his play moving forward.
