Derek Carr Ruled Out for Saints’ Matchup Against Eagles

New Orleans, LA — In a crucial late-season development, New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has officially been ruled out for the team’s upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints announced the decision following a week of uncertainty surrounding Carr’s availability, after he sustained an injury in their last outing.

Carr, who joined the Saints this offseason after a lengthy career with the Las Vegas Raiders, has been a key figure in the team’s offense. His absence will force the Saints to turn to backup quarterback Jameis Winston, who is expected to step in under center when New Orleans faces the high-flying Eagles.

Carr’s injury came at a pivotal moment for the Saints, who are still in contention for a playoff spot.

The team has struggled with consistency throughout the season, and losing their veteran quarterback could add to the challenge as they aim for a postseason berth.

Head coach Dennis Allen expressed confidence in Winston’s ability to lead the team, but acknowledged the impact of losing Carr. “Derek has been a leader for us all season, and it’s unfortunate that he won’t be able to play this week. But we have full faith in Jameis and the rest of the team to step up,” Allen said in a press conference.

Winston, a former first overall draft pick, has starting experience with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Saints. He will be tasked with keeping pace with an Eagles team that boasts one of the league’s most dynamic offenses, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Kickoff between the Saints and Eagles is scheduled for this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, as New Orleans looks to keep its playoff hopes alive despite the absence of their starting quarterback.
