Calipari Sets Sights on International Prospect, Plans Visit for Next Weekend

Hogs will entertain another 5-star stretch forward next weekend with coaching staff never slowing down

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— John Calipari’s focus on 5-star recruits continues as he prepares for an upcoming visit from Miika Muurinen.

The 6-foot-10 power forward has scheduled three visits this month, with stops at Michigan (Sept. 14), Arkansas (Sept. 21), and Duke (Sept. 27). Muurinen recently visited Utah on Sept. 7 and has received scholarship offers from two powerhouse programs, Kentucky and North Carolina, this month.

Since the initial 2026 rankings were released, Muurinen has made significant strides, climbing nearly 40 spots to No. 6 nationally and ranking as the top power forward, according to 247Sports.

Hailing from Finland, Muurinen brings a European style to his game, excelling in multiple positions, especially the four. He’s known for running the floor well, showing impressive leaping ability, and defending on the perimeter, making him a threat in transition.

Muurinen shined at the EYBL Peach Jam in July, playing with Bradley Beal Elite. Over six games, he averaged 18 points, four rebounds, and one block, shooting an impressive 62% from the field, 50% from beyond the arc, and 90% from the free-throw line.
