Patrick Mahomes introduces a groundbreaking Texas Tech NIL class set to transform college sports.

The Chiefs will start the season with the goal of achieving the NFL’s first three-peat.

The NFL regular season is less than two weeks away, kicking off on September 5th with a matchup between the two-time defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Baltimore Ravens led by MVP Lamar Jackson, held at Arrowhead Stadium. As Patrick Mahomes begins his seventh season, the Chiefs are aiming to become the first team in history to achieve a three-peat, a milestone that has been attempted by seven franchises before but never accomplished.

Mahomes support for his Alma Mater

Recently, Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany donated $5 million to Texas Tech University’s football program. This contribution is a significant part of the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project, which seeks to upgrade the university’s athletic facilities. Additionally, Mahomes has teamed up with Adidas to launch the first-ever “Team Mahomes” NIL class, securing NIL deals for six Texas Tech student-athletes. “The excitement surrounding this partnership has been amazing, and this announcement highlights how much it means to me, Adidas, and Texas Tech,” Mahomes stated.

The athletes, such as Micah Hudson (football), NiJaree Canady (softball), and Jasmine Shavers (basketball), will participate in brand marketing campaigns, including promotions for Mahomes’ Adidas line. Mahomes’ dedication to his alma mater is clear not just from his financial support but also from his efforts to boost the visibility of Texas Tech athletes. This collaboration with Adidas is part of a larger initiative aimed at investing in student-athletes, with over 12,000 athletes across the country already engaged in similar programs.

Mahomes’ approach and actions serve as a model for future generations. As Kobe Bryant once said, “Leave the game better than you found it, and when it’s time for you to leave, leave a legend.” While it’s not required of them, these athletes’ willingness to contribute reflects a commitment to creating a brighter future with the tools and resources at their disposal.

Chiefs Season can be historic

The Chiefs have experienced losses in all of their preseason matchups against the Jaguars, Lions, and Bears. Despite it being just preseason, one would expect the reigning champions to perform better, especially with the historic prospect of achieving the first three-peat in NFL history. Last season, although Mahomes had his least productive year, he still recorded 4,183 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, leading to his third Super Bowl win.
