DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans Extends High Praise to Georgia Football
During the 2024 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans tapped into the Georgia talent pool by selecting defensive back Kamari Lassiter from the Bulldogs. Since joining the team, Lassiter has made a strong impression on second-year head coach DeMeco Ryans.
However, Lassiter isn’t the only one receiving praise. Ryans has also lauded the entire Georgia football program in his comments about the defensive back.
“Kamari clearly has the qualities needed for this role,” Ryans stated. “Mental toughness is crucial for success in football, and it’s evident that Georgia, under Kirby [Smart], instills this trait in their players. Kirby has done an exceptional job preparing all of his athletes.”
Over the past three years, Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia have sent 33 players to the NFL through the draft, all while winning two consecutive National Championships. This level of success speaks volumes about their talent management, and Smart’s expertise is evident. Kamari Lassiter is one example of a player who has made significant contributions to the Bulldogs and is now making the jump to the NFL.
“Georgia consistently produces players who are ready to step into the NFL, and that’s a testament to Smart and his program’s effectiveness,” Ryans noted. “When you bring in a Georgia player, you’re getting someone who is prepared for the league.”
Although he is a rookie, Lassiter has made a noticeable impact with the Texans, particularly during training camp against Houston’s top wide receivers. He appears poised to become a strong NFL player.
“Kamari shows up every day,” Ryans said. “He may be quiet, but he’s focused, intense, and always doing his job, even if you don’t notice him much.”
