Patrick Mahomes involved in yet ANOTHER altercation with the same Chiefs teammate, prompting Andy Reid to intervene.

A nearly identical situation happened last week at training camp

Andy Reid had to intervene when a heated fight erupted during Kansas City Chiefs training camp. This marks the second time in two weeks that the same notorious defensive player was involved in a situation that put the golden No. 15 jersey of franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes at risk.

Mahomes involved in nasty fight at Chiefs camp

As expected, Kansas City’s preseason has centered around their quarterback. Whether it’s the changes in his receiving corps, his lively family, or his unusual taco recipes, Mahomes remains the focal point.

Alarm bells sounded last week when a video surfaced showing Mahomes in a serious physical altercation with linebacker Drue Tranquill. The latest developments suggest he still hasn’t fully taken the hint.

Andy Reid Halts Chiefs Practice Due to Fight

During the long drive drill—an Andy Reid preseason staple that Jason and Travis Kelce famously dread—linebacker Jack Cochrane sparked a shoving match at the end of a play involving fan-favorite running back Isiah Pacheco.

Mahomes quickly intervened, stepping in to physically restrain his hot-headed teammate in an effort to defuse the situation. The $500 million quarterback took a risk by getting involved, but as fans pointed out previously, he knows it’s often the fastest way to get a teammate to back down. If players continue to fight with Mahomes, the Chiefs’ season could be over before it even starts.

“My favorite thing is when Chiefs players realize it’s Mahomes holding them back and immediately tone down their aggression because their career is on the line,” a member of Chiefs Kingdom commented on X, formerly Twitter.

Tranquill learned his lesson last time and kept his distance from Mahomes, but still managed to provoke a major conflict. In the video, he is seen at the end taunting the offensive players, with one hand over his crotch.

That was the last straw for Big Red, who reluctantly walked over to the scene, despite the interruption to his favorite drill. Although he was keen to avoid seeing Mahomes in danger, he could not ignore Tranquill’s disruptive behavior.

After nearly a month of intense training camp, it’s evident that Reid, Mahomes, Kelce, and the rest of the team are fully prepared to start the NFL season and unleash the Chiefs’ aggressive defensive players against new opponents.
