Longhorns RHP Andre Duplantier Announces He’s Returning for 2025 Season
The Texas Longhorns and new coach Jim Schlossnagle continue their winning streak this offseason. In the past 24 hours, the team has welcomed two transfer portal additions: Jared Spencer from Indiana State and Jaquae Stewart from the JUCO ranks. Additionally, they announced the hiring of Gehrig Mosiello as the new Director of Player Development.
The good news kept coming for the Longhorns on Monday evening when right-handed pitcher Andre Duplantier II announced on Instagram that he would be returning for the 2025 season, joining several teammates including shortstop Jalin Flores and outfielder Max Belyeu.
Emerging as a key bullpen asset for the Longhorns, Duplantier was a favorite of the previous coaching staff for high-pressure, late-game situations. He often delivered under pressure, achieving an impressive 3.09 ERA with 53 strikeouts and just 17 walks in a career-high 43.2 innings.
Duplantier’s development was a major storyline for the Longhorns in 2024, and having him return next season is a significant win for the new coaching staff. For Duplantier, this presents an opportunity to further improve under the guidance of new pitching coach Max Weiner.
As it stands, the Longhorns are assembling a formidable pitching staff for the 2025 season. Duplantier will be joined by other returners such as Ace Whitehead and Max Grubbs, along with transfers like LSU’s Aiden Moffett and Ole Miss’ Grayson Saunier.
For a team aiming to compete in Omaha every season, building a roster of elite pitchers is a solid foundation. Coupled with the addition of Max Weiner to the coaching staff, there is significant potential on the mound for Texas in 2025.
