“One last ride”: Arkansas outfielder Kendall Diggs to return for senior season
Highly talented outfielder returns…
Arkansas baseball fans got a surprise today, Kendall Diggs announced his return to the team. This comes after he went undrafted in the 2024 MLB draft.
Diggs battled a lingering shoulder injury that impacted his batting performance. Based on his Instagram post, he had surgery on it after the season. He finished the season with a .229 batting average, down from .299 in his sophomore year (2023).
There was a decline in his home runs, hitting 12 in 2023 and just 7 this past season, likely due to his injury, which also contributed to him going undrafted.
During his freshman season, Diggs played in 27 games with 15 starts, primarily as a designated hitter (13 times) and twice at first base. He slashed .197/.367/.361 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. He collected 12 hits, including a double, drew 16 walks, and was hit by one pitch. In the College World Series, he drew a walk and scored a run against #2 Stanford.
In his sophomore year, Diggs made the All-SEC second team after a standout season. He played in 58 games with 57 starts, including 38 as a designated hitter and 19 in right field. He slashed .299/.436/.547 with 12 home runs and a team-high 63 RBIs. He recorded the second-most hits on the team (60), including 12 doubles and 1 triple, totaling 110 bases. He also drew a team-high 46 walks and was hit by six pitches.
His senior season, as mentioned earlier, was less eventful.
Kendall played in 55 games with 54 starts, 53 in right field and one as a designated hitter. He slashed .229/.346/.395 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs. He finished fourth on the Razorbacks in RBIs (34) and fifth in runs scored (35). He committed only two errors in 78 total chances, resulting in a .974 fielding percentage.
Kendall will return for his senior year with the opportunity to prove himself as a standout player. He will need an impressive season to catch the attention of professional scouts. Stay tuned to All Razorbacks for more updates on Diggs.
