Louisville Unveils 2024 Football Media Guide

Just browsing the Louisville website at 10:30 on a Wednesday night, as one does, and I stumbled upon this gem. I say this every year, but this is arguably one of the best days of the year in the ‘CardinalStrong’ household. The day the University of Louisville publishes the annual football media guide is when we get flooded with information,

hopefully including some new insights, and traditionally our first look at the projected depth chart for the fall. More on that later. Last year’s cover wasn’t great, to be honest, but it looks like we’re sticking with the “big player, small field” theme again for 2024. This year, we have Riley, Gillotte, and Michael Gonzalez (O-line representing!).

There are also several other Cards featured on the inside and back covers.

While covers are great and I’ll be spending the next month reading through the rest, this is usually when I’d highlight what grabs the most attention a few weeks before kickoff: the projected depth chart for the fall. But… there isn’t one… again.

Unfortunately, it seems Brohm and his team aren’t fans of including a depth chart in the Media Guide, and we might not see one from this staff in the future. Some may argue it’s pointless since it’s pre-fall camp, some might say it’s irrelevant as some players haven’t even practiced yet, and others may point out that not all players are healthy. But when do college football fans care about logic and reason?! Instead, let’s dive into the official position breakdowns heading into August, listed in numerical order, with incoming freshmen at the end of each group.

While it’s disappointing, I’m still excited to read through the rest of the guide in the coming weeks. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on which sections you enjoy each year. With numerous transfers once again, there’s always new information to absorb as we count down the days until kickoff.
