Josiah Clemons talks about receiving an offer from Mississippi State.
Offensive line coach Cody Kennedy is actively recruiting more substantial players for Mississippi State, and his efforts have been notably effective during this camp season. This development is promising news for Mississippi State football enthusiasts, as Kennedy is known for his commitment to excellence in his coaching responsibilities.
Kennedy’s coaching prowess was on display during the Big Dawg Clinic, marking his first camp session in this capacity. Beyond recruitment, Kennedy dedicates significant time to mentoring his players during these events.
A standout among Kennedy’s recruits is Josiah Clemons, evident from the strong rapport already established between them. Kennedy’s approach with the elite prospect at camp was rigorous yet constructive, ensuring Clemons received personalized coaching at every opportunity.
Clemons’ response? “When I received my offer, I spoke with Coach Kennedy. The camp was fantastic; there was excellent instruction and well-organized drills. I felt I left as a better player than when I arrived.”
Clemons, a sizable offensive lineman we’ve been monitoring closely, stands at 6-foot-7, weighs 325 pounds, and hails from Clinton, Mississippi’s Christian Academy, showing immense potential. Kennedy noticed Clemons early on, shortly after Coach Jeff Lebby added him to his initial staff at Mississippi State.
Currently, Clemons appears raw but eagerly absorbs coaching. Kennedy clearly admired his physique and skills, poised for development into a top-tier college lineman. As Clemons tours colleges this summer, more coaches are recognizing his potential as a standout prospect.
Securing an offer from Mississippi State could significantly alter Clemons’ recruiting profile. It might position him to consider committing early, though nothing is certain yet. This opportunity presents an early chance that could prove irresistible for him.
“It won’t be the only opportunity. ‘I’m scheduled to attend the Mega Camp at Mississippi College on Wednesday,’ Clemons explained. ‘Later this week, I’ll be visiting Ole Miss and LSU. Things are really starting to pick up. I’ve been receiving interest from Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Toledo, Tennessee State, South Alabama, and Middle Tennessee.’
With numerous programs showing interest now, and with more likely to follow after receiving an offer from an SEC program, Clemons is a player with significant potential and upside. His development over the coming months could lead to exciting outcomes.
‘This offseason, my focus is on improving my footwork,’ Clemons noted. ‘Attending camps and reviewing game footage has shown me that refining my footwork could greatly enhance my performance.’
Comments like these are encouraging coming from young athletes. Clemons is a prospect that should generate excitement among Mississippi State fans.”
