NORMAN — The OU softball team continues to strengthen its roster.

On Wednesday, former Campbell right-hander Isabella Smith announced on Instagram that she will be transferring to OU, providing the Sooners with much-needed pitching depth.

Smith is the fourth player head coach Patty Gasso has secured from the transfer portal in five days, leaving just one more roster spot to fill. She joins North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling, Utah outfielder Abby Dayton, and BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani as the latest additions to the Sooners.

Gasso is expected to use the final spot to bring in an ace pitcher after Kelly Maxwell’s eligibility ended.

In 2024, Smith recorded a 26-7 record with a 1.56 ERA in 206 innings for the Fighting Camels. OU also has Kierston Deal returning, who had a 14-1 record with a 1.97 ERA in 78 ⅓ innings last season.

During her three seasons at Campbell, Smith was 70-28 with a 2.37 ERA and 638 strikeouts and 161 walks in 593 ⅓ innings. Prior to her time at Campbell, Smith spent her first collegiate season at James Madison.
