OU softball adds BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani via transfer portal
It was a bit of a shock when OU infielder Avery Hodge announced her transfer to LSU, leaving the Sooners with a significant gap in their middle infield. However, head coach Patty Gasso didn’t waste any time finding a replacement. On Tuesday, BYU transfer Ailana Agbayani committed to OU.
Agbayani posted impressive stats for the Cougars in 2024, hitting .424 with five home runs, a .534 on-base percentage, and a .594 slugging percentage. Additionally, she pitched with a 5.78 ERA, striking out 17 in 23 innings.
Agbayani is expected to play shortstop for the Sooners. She is Gasso’s third transfer portal commit in four days, with two more roster spots left to fill. Agbayani joins North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling and Utah outfielder Abby Dayton as Sooner portal commits.
Agbayani made a memorable impression on the Sooners earlier in the season, finishing with four hits — including two doubles — and two RBIs in a win over OU on April 12.
Agbayani will have two years of eligibility remaining.
