Entering the 2024 season, numerous individuals associated with the New Orleans Saints have high expectations to meet. Head coach Dennis Allen is essentially coaching for his job, and quarterback Derek Carr needs to prove he can lead a contending team. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is also expected to revitalize the offense.
These are just a few of the figures under the spotlight. Several other Saints players are also facing high expectations this season. Surprisingly, one such player is second-year receiver A.T. Perry. Despite being a sixth-round pick last year and recording only 12 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, Perry has generated considerable excitement.
Perry showed enough promise to excite observers about his potential in year two. Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder included Perry in a recent article highlighting overlooked 2023 NFL draft picks to watch in 2024. The list featured two first-rounders and two second-rounders, with Perry being the only late-round selection.
Anticipation is high for A.T. Perry in 2024. Holder noted that Perry’s size, speed, and big-play ability—traits that made him an intriguing prospect—were evident when he got his opportunity with the Saints. When Michael Thomas was injured, Perry stepped up, tallying 12 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns over eight games.
With Michael Thomas no longer on the roster, and Perry having shown flashes of his potential, it will be exciting to see how he complements veteran receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed over a full season. Head coach Dennis Allen emphasized during the offseason that Perry still has much room to grow and needs to be more consistent, which is expected of young players. If Perry can have a strong training camp, he could make a significant impact in 2024.
