Bears Might Add Former Cowboys Safety to Strengthen Defense in Free Agency

The Chicago Bears have been quite active since the end of the 2023 season.

Despite numerous rumors, the Bears ultimately chose the young phenom Caleb Williams to be their franchise’s starting quarterback for the future. To support Williams, they’ve added key players such as superstar receiver Keenan Allen and running back D’Andre Swift.

The Bears still have some cap space and should consider strengthening their defense. One available option is safety Jayron Kearse, who previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys. Kearse remains a free agent even as training camp approaches, having spent the last three seasons with the Cowboys.

Last season, Kearse played in 16 games for Dallas, starting 13 of them. He recorded one interception, 1.5 sacks, and 72 total tackles, contributing significantly to the Cowboys’ defense.

With ample cap space, the Bears could afford to sign Kearse. While their offseason has been successful so far, the defense could benefit from additional depth, and Kearse could help address this need.

Why not take a chance on him? The Bears are poised to improve in 2024 and could become even stronger with the addition of Kearse.
