Alabama is ranked among the top 5 teams for the future of college football.

What position will Alabama hold in future college football rankings?

Fans and experts nationwide are eager to see how the Alabama Crimson Tide performs in 2024, marking the first season in nearly two decades without legendary head coach Nick Saban on the sidelines at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

New head coach Kalen DeBoer, who achieved significant success with the Washington Huskies, has earned recognition as a top-tier coach in college football.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg’s future college football rankings (subscription required), Alabama is ranked within the top five, which comes as no surprise.

Although the Crimson Tide will have to move forward without Saban, the strong foundation he established will now be overseen by DeBoer. Tuscaloosa is expected to remain a central focus in the sport, and Rittenberg notes that dropping from No. 2 to No. 4 in the future rankings is the best-case scenario for Alabama.

“Rittenberg notes that Alabama might have experienced a greater decline after Saban’s departure, and the team would likely rank lower in a one-year projection. However, Kalen DeBoer has rapidly proven himself as a top-tier coach nationwide and would have been highly sought after by programs of Alabama’s standing. While there may be some challenges this fall, DeBoer is expected to keep the Tide in contention for the CFP and the national championship in most seasons.”

Competing for national championships has become the norm for Crimson Tide fans, and Rittenberg believes the Alabama football program will continue to achieve this under new leadership.

Ahead of Alabama in the rankings are a few teams, all consistent title contenders with bright futures. The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked No. 1, the Ohio State Buckeyes No. 2, and the Texas Longhorns No. 3.

The 2024 season holds many uncertainties for Alabama fans, which is why they eagerly await the team’s season opener on August 31 against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
