The Boston Celtics have faced significant challenges to reach the pinnacle of the NBA. Sixteen years had passed since their last championship, and they narrowly missed the title a few years ago.

Amidst this journey, it was especially heartwarming to see Al Horford finally triumph. Jayson Tatum recently took to Instagram to shower the Dominican star with high praise, even suggesting a Hall of Fame future for him (via Daniel Donabedian).

Although it may seem a stretch, it’s not entirely unreasonable. Horford, while not boasting standout statistics, was instrumental in winning two NCAA championships, has been selected to five All-Star teams, and now holds an NBA championship title.

Horford’s influence extends beyond the numbers. His ability to defy age and remain relevant is remarkable. He consistently sacrifices his body on every play and remains an elite defender. Offensively, he has adapted by expanding his range to fit modern basketball. His playmaking skills and basketball IQ are exceptional among power forwards.

Horford excels in all the small aspects required to win games and is one of the most respected figures in any NBA locker room.

While it’s uncertain if this will secure him a place in the Hall of Fame, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Celtics retire his No. 42 jersey in honor of his contributions.
