Former Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew has named his greatest ever game and goals during his time at the club between 2010 and 2016.
As part of Celtic TV’s recurring ‘My Greatest Game’ feature – which has previously hosted Neil Lennon, Paul Lambert and a number of other ex-Celts – the 38-year-old earmarked Celtic’s formidable 6-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on April 7, 2012 as his own favourite appearance at the Parkhead side.
There was confidence rushing right through me and I just wanted to get on the ball,” Mulgrew told Celtic TV. “Players in the league knew that I was dangerous on my left foot, and I knew that if I went down the outside and faked to cross it, Fowler was going to try to block the cross.
“That allowed me to go inside and a bit of space opened up. We were 2-0 up, so I thought I’d have a go, and I managed to put it in the bottom corner. What a great feeling [and watching it again] brings all of those great memories back. What an amazing time.”
That was indeed an afternoon to remember for Celtic.
