Cornerback Serious Stinyard Narrows His Choices to Kansas State and West Virginia

Kansas State’s football program is focused on securing commitments from high school defensive players. The Wildcats have already received six verbal commitments from players who excel at stopping opponents.

They hope to add another to their roster later today. Serious Stinyard, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback from Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida, announced on his X page, formerly known as Twitter, that he will reveal his decision at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

It seems K-State is in a tight two-way competition with Big 12 rival West Virginia for Stinyard. He made official visits to both schools.

The Mountaineers might have the upper hand. In an interview with FanNation Mountaineers Now, Stinyard mentioned that he appreciated how West Virginia treated him during the recruiting process.

“My relationship has been fantastic with everyone at West Virginia,” Stinyard said. “WVU is probably one of the nicest places on earth. My lead recruiter, Coach Jevaughn Codlin, the assistant cornerback coach, is great because he’s straightforward and doesn’t sugarcoat anything. I think that’s very important.”

However, Stinyard featured K-State on his X page before making an official visit to Manhattan a few days ago. He also recently visited Minnesota.

Last year at Gaither High School, Stinyard recorded three interceptions.

K-State has already secured verbal commitments from several players, including cornerback JoJo Scott, defensive tackle Will Kemna, linebacker Weston Polk, cornerback Martel Jackson, defensive end Dalton Knapp, and linebacker Sawyer Schilke.

Regardless of whether Stinyard commits to K-State, it is very likely that the Wildcats will receive several more verbal commitments this week. June is a prime month for college programs to secure as many commitments as possible.
