Celtic hope to deliver on their commitment to create a second standing area inside Celtic Park in the new season and are currently awaiting permission from Building Standards at Glasgow City Council to proceed.

Last season in an exclusive on The Celtic Star, we told you that netting was going to be required in order for Celtic to accept tickets for the games at Ibrox and that theRangers had accepted that the current state of affairs surrounding the away support at Glasgow Derby games was unsafe, after a total of seven incidents where Celtic supporters were struck by missiles, including glass Buckfast bottles, at Ibrox.

Senior Celtic Source – Rangers agreed that Ibrox corner is unsafe and plan to install nets

For the record (and the sun) there were no such incidents at Celtic Park.

We also broke the news that the allocation would be increased to 2500 for next season, that was several months before the official news broke, and quite a few folk took issue with our story on social media at the time implying that we had made it up. Turns out we hadn’t and the information that we sourced was bang on.

Whisper it, but Celtic could be getting 2750 tickets for Ibrox

Now those two stories are coming together with a second application by Celtic, and presumably there will also be one by theRangers, to install temporary netting to the south east corner of Celtic Park between the home and the 2500 away supporters at the Glasgow Derby matches held at Celtic Park next season.

As Celtic will NOT accept tickets for Ibrox unless this condition is reciprocated then we can assume that the netting that theRangers agreed to install last season will now be done in time for Celtic’s first visit there on Scottish Premiership duties at the end of the year.

None of these stories were broken by the mainstream media, but all by The Celtic Star, although the day after we told you about the netting requirements one of the red tops reckoned that their own later story was an exclusive. Maybe they don’t count fan media?
