UNC Basketball jumps into the mix for Class of 2025 combo guard

The Combo Guard from AAU Team Durant has been contacted by the UNC basketball program.

Acaden Lewis is a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Baltimore, Maryland, who could be a great addition to the UNC basketball program. Lewis currently ranks as one of ESPN’s top 100 high school recruits, sitting at No. 67 overall and No. 12 at his position.

Over the weekend, news broke on “X” that the Tar Heels have expressed interest in Lewis.

Lewis has received significant attention from the college basketball world. In the ACC, schools such as Miami, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and more have shown interest. He has also attracted the attention of blue-blood programs like Villanova and Kentucky.

North Carolina basketball has eight scholarships available for the 2025-2026 season. If Elliot Cadeau continues his growth, he will most likely be heading to the NBA by the time Lewis arrives, and the same could be said for five-star Ian Jackson, who has the makings of being a “one-and-done” player. The need for a guard in the 2025 class will be very important for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.

The UNC basketball program has made two offers to combo guards in the class of 2025. The first was to ESPN’s No. 8 ranked recruit Jasper Johnson, along with Derek Dixon, who is ranked No. 62 overall. Acaden Lewis could soon join these two with an offer from North Carolina.

Hubert Davis and North Carolina have been successful in recruiting this past offseason. According to 247Sports, the Tar Heels’ 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 9 in the country and third among ACC teams. They are looking to add more star high school talent in 2025 to continue the growth of North Carolina Tar Heel basketball.
