Following his visit to Kansas State, Coleman Hawkins, a 6-foot-10 forward, intends to tour LSU.

Coleman Hawkins, a highly sought-after prospect from the transfer portal for the Kansas State basketball program, plans to make another visit before finalizing his decision on his next destination.

Therefore, K-State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang and fans will have to wait at least another week to learn whether Hawkins, a 6-foot-10 forward from Illinois, will choose to join the team in Manhattan.

On3.com initially reported that Hawkins is scheduling a visit to LSU on June 17.

Hawkins’ ultimate decision may be heavily influenced by football. Despite not intending to pursue a two-sport career, Hawkins disclosed during an interview at the NBA draft combine a month ago his fondness for watching college football.

“I will never play in the Big 10 again. I wouldn’t play in the Big East,” Hawkins asserted. “I will go somewhere where I can enjoy a football game. Some schools have reached out. I’ve been straightforward with them. I haven’t wasted their time. I’ve plainly communicated that those are not places I would consider attending.”

The previous visit Hawkins made to K-State indicates a genuine interest in the Wildcats.

Moreover, Tang is keen on recruiting Hawkins, recognizing the potential he brings to strengthen the Wildcats’ frontcourt, thereby elevating their competitiveness against the Big 12’s leading teams.

Hawkins, who averaged 12.1 points and 6.1 rebounds for Illinois last season, played a pivotal role in guiding Illinois to the Elite Eight, where they were defeated by eventual national champion UConn. In that game, Hawkins contributed five points and grabbed four rebounds.

During the NBA draft combine, Hawkins received constructive feedback on areas he needs to enhance to elevate his draft prospects for the following year. He intends to carry that valuable insight and determination to whichever basketball program he chooses to be a part of.
