Breaking: Michigan leading Alabama, Georgia and LSU as Five-Star Wide Receiver Schedules Official Visit to Michigan

Five-Star Wide Receiver Schedules Official Visit to Michigan

Changes are occurring on the NIL front and within university athletic departments regarding paying student athletes. As a result, U-M has a significant opportunity to become one of the nation’s top recruiting powerhouses.

Everyone knows Michigan loves to run the ball, but the Wolverines are eager to secure a star wide receiver or two in the 2025 class. This might be achievable with five-star Derek Meadows from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver, one of the most sought-after in the nation, has recently included the Wolverines among the five schools he will officially visit.

As shown above, Meadows will start his official visits with a trip to Ann Arbor this weekend. Over the following three weeks, he’ll visit his other top schools: Georgia and Notre Dame, who might be leading for him, followed by LSU and Alabama.

There are a few key points to consider with Meadows. Historically, Michigan might not have had a chance with a prospect like him, but after winning a national title, they’re getting more attention. It’s also noteworthy that Michigan is his first visit; if Sherrone Moore and his team make a strong impression, the subsequent schools might struggle to measure up. Additionally, the recent news that schools can directly pay athletes is advantageous for Michigan, one of the wealthiest schools in the nation. This development should benefit Moore and his staff as they elevate their recruiting efforts.
