Mississippi State on contract extension through 2027–2028 season

Head coach Chris Jans of Mississippi State gets contract extension through 2027–2028 season

Chris Jans, the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, has inked a contract extension that will keep him with the team until the 2027–2028 campaign.

Jans, who arrived in Starkville after five fruitful seasons at New Mexico State, has guided the Bulldogs for the past two seasons, amassing an overall record of 42-27 and a 16-20 record in SEC play. In those two years, Jans has also guided Mississippi State to two appearances in the NCAA Tournament, where they were eliminated in the First Four and First Round.

Jans guided Mississippi State to an overall record of 21-14 this past season, including an 8-10 record in SEC play for the second straight year. As was previously mentioned, Mississippi State qualified for and lost to the NCAA Tournament the prior year.

In addition to being Mississippi State’s first since the 2018–19 campaign, those two NCAA Tournament appearances marked the program’s first back-to-back trips to the big dance since 2008–09.
